Wow, we have definatly started by hitting the ground running. Many things stood out for me during our class descution, I didnt know how to deal with all the thoughts and emotions that were coming at me. I feel that the biggest objective for me would be to leave my bubble. I have never fully apperciated what I have, and how fortunate I am. If there is one thing I am going to get from this course, I would like it to be a full understanding of the world. I can’t really describe what it is im feeling, some sort of combination of guilt, sadness, but at the same time joy because I know that I will be able to do something about it. What we do is so little in the world, but at the same time big, and can grow into something even bigger. I want to be able to see the world for what it is, and fix it to the best of my abbilities. I know what im saying is pretty vague, but trust me there is a lot flowing through my head right now. I really hope what we do inspire more people to follow in our foot steps, and even make this course bigger, and spread through schools and communities so one day we stop feeling the guilt and saddness, and only feel the joy.
(May-29-10) tennis provincials
05.30
We (as in the tennis team) have just come back from the tennis provincials and they were a blast! The tennis team members are Lianne Gr. 11, Jolie Gr. 11, Alice Gr.10, Romus Gr. 11, Ron Gr. 12,Tiffany Gr. 11, Cheryl Gr. 12, Caroline Gr. 12, Daniel Gr. 12, Marcus Gr. 10, Tomuel Gr. 11, Joanna Gr. 12, and me Gregory Gr. 11, ( I would put in last names but I would end up spelling them wrong). 3 days of non stop tennis was tiring, and I can only imagine what everyone is going through, they probubly collapsed into there beds right when they got home. There were many great teams from around BC, and everyone worked hard to get to the provincials. As the manager I did not get to play that much so I can not comment on how the team members feel how there games went, but im sure that everyone is happy and feels that they did their best. Over all we got 8th place out of 12 and as seeing as these are the best schools in BC I feel proud on our postion, and could not have asked more from our team. We met very internesting people and got our own little adventures just trying to find our way to the provincials. Since they were in Burnaby we had a hard time try to find them, our navigation took us all the way to south surrey, in the complete opposite irection, but it was ok and we found our way in the end. Before and after the provincials the team would hang out together, and just talk and play games, we all got to know eachother on the team and have fun together, I am sure we will have an even bigger bonding experience during our trip to Fiji. This blog isn’t very big because I can not say my experience was the same as everyone else on the team, but I am sure that if you ask them they will gladly tell you how they felt about it, and what there favourite part was. Our team will get there agian next year, and we shall try even harder.
What to blog about (May 18, 2010)
05.19
I just can not think of what to blog about. I was thinking about maybe a story, but then i remembered i can’t write. So then i thought maybe I should state my opinion on something, but then i realized I haven’t learned or heard about anything that bugs me. So I just went with this.
INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW/WHAT TO BLOG ABOUT.
1. Find a place to blog.
- Websites are a good place to start, but make sure ur bloging on an appropriate website. ( websites about other countries aren’t the best place for instruction manuals)
2. Pick a topic.
-remember to be original and creative ( No your idea of a blogging instruction manual is not creative, everyone has done that.)
3. Make it interesting.
- if you don’t have the best topic. and are not the best writer, use diffrent fonts, and bolding, for some REASON people SEEm to wake up when something changes
4. give it a good ending……
(May-08-10) fundraising continues
05.09
The fundraising effort continues with more and more money being collected, but not by me. We as a group have pretty much tapped out the school, no matter who I ask they all say “I have already donated to someone else”, thats not to say I haven’t made any money, but most of my efforts have been outside of school. I think that is a huge feat, already 1200 +/- 100 have donated, not counting the family members or neighbours’ who donated. We still have all our meet sales, not to mention the bottle drive which many of us have been working like crazy on. Before it was even planned we already had a date and fliers to hand out, as well as people who already had bottles for us to take. I don’t think last years group has a chance.
Wow Fiji
04.29
Wow we are going to Fiji…. no matter how excited everyone was about the thought of going to Chilliwack, I think that the energy in that room tripled as the news hit us. When I first heard where we were going, my first that was “where in the world is Fiji”, and “why do i recognize that name?”. Once Mr. Matheny explained that Fiji was an island near Australia my next thought was “thank you, it’s warm warm”. We were so excited to find out where we were going we handed in our deposits less than 24 hours of finding out what we had to do, and continuing in our eagerness we have already started planning the can drive, beat that grade 12s. I can not wait till we reach our goal and are flying across the world.
