Can’t believe

I cannot believe how fast the time has passed. It’s the last working day and we are almost done the project. It has been amazing working with the workers and with the village people. I have gotten to know them very well and I am going to miss them. They are so friendly and humble; it feels like we have known each other for a long time. Getting to know everyone in our global class has been a great experience. Doing this project has made me realize how good we have it back home. It has changed the way I look at things. It is making me appreciate everything I have. The workers here work so hard under the sun every day to earn money to support their family but the sad part is that they get paid next to nothing. I really hope that this building protects them when the strong wins come. These people deserve this and way more. They have worked so hard all their lives they have all my respect.  They have set a great example of how to e happy with what you have. The workers are the best, they all look so happy and I love the smile that they give you every time you look at them. Everyone here is so helpful , if they see you struggling with something they just jump right in  there and start helping you. The local kids are full of energy and right after school they come here and start playing with us and helping us finishing the project.

I am so thankful with my parents for wanting a better future for me and going to Canada. Educations are so important and I have taken it for granted. The village kids have to walk up to 5 km to school every day by themselves. This kids have taught me so much.

42 Hours

After 42 hours of traveling we finally got to Fiji and it was worth the wait. Fiji is amazing, beautiful and really hot!!! This place is so nice I wish I could stay here for more than two weeks. The opening ceremony was absolutely fantastic. I felt so welcomed to this place that it was just like being at home. The people here are so special and I can tell how happy and thankful they are. The dancers were really good and the music just made me want to dance. The people here are just happy with what they have and I think we should all be like that. The food here is so delicious I think its better than my mommas Mexican food (haha). We have so much work to do, but with everyone working as we are we should definitely finish this project. I am really glad to be in this program and I would regret not being here. I hoping to learn a lot about this experience and I would recommend it to everyone out there. It was great to see the Fijians traditions and their dances. I didn’t think digging a six by six foot hole was that hard but under the sun this strong it is definitely not easy. We just started and I am already tired. The landscape here is just beautiful and I wish everyone could see what we see on our way to the work site. Well I am going back to work. Mode (bye in Fijian :) )
